Pakistan announces not to play match against India in T20 World Cup
The Pakistan government has announced that it will not participate in the match against India while allowing the national cricket team to participate in the T20 World Cup.
In a statement issued on the social networking website, the Pakistan government said that ‘the government has allowed the Pakistan cricket team to participate in the ICCT T20 World 2026’.

The statement said that ‘the team will not play the scheduled match against India on February 15, 2026’.
According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) held consultations for the final decision. This consultation was held by Chairman Cricket Board Mohsin Naqvi with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
According to the schedule, Pakistan’s first match will be played against the Netherlands in Colombo on February 7, while the big Pak-India match is scheduled for February 15 in Colombo.
Earlier, sources had said that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is expected to meet Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in which an important announcement will be made regarding the team’s participation in the World Cup.
It was further reported that if Pakistan decides to participate, the team kit will also be unveiled soon. However, the PCB has also prepared a plan B in case it does not participate in the World Cup.
Sources had said that under Plan B, an alternative tournament for Pakistan, Pakistan Shaheens and the Under-18 teams will be held in Lahore.
