US President Donald Trump has announced the deployment of a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East to increase pressure on Iran.
Speaking to the media on the eve of his departure from a military base in North Carolina, President Trump said that a second aircraft carrier is being sent. If Iran does not make a nuclear deal, we will need this fleet.
According to foreign media reports, the world's largest aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford is being sent from the Caribbean Sea to the Middle East, where it will join the existing US war fleet.
The US carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its accompanying guided missile destroyers have been deployed in the region for the past two weeks.
This announcement by President Trump came after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Meanwhile, Gulf Arab countries have warned that any potential attack could spark another major war in the region.
